Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Emeritus Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abuja, has stated that there are bishops inside the Catholic church who are of the opinion that the church ought to adhere to the homosexual agenda. As a result of the recent announcement that the Catholic Pope gave his approval for priests to bless couples of the same sexual orientation, Onaiyekan made this statement. Onaiyekan, who expressed disapproval of the news, stated that the Pope made it clear to them that a homosexual union should not be referred to as marriage.
In response to a question posed on Focus Nigeria, a number of opponents discussed the primary fact that the Catholic Church has stated that the priest has the authority to decide whether or not to bless the couple. This is a means of opening not only a door but also a window instead. Are you aware that the phrase “gradually by gradually” holds true and that this is the initial indication that the Catholic Church might one day accept t
He said, “That is the position of homosexual lobby I’m talking to you about who are looking for every opportunity to make this Pope say what he has not said
“They are hoping and watching, and of course the homosexual lobby is not only out there, even within our Catholic church we know there are bishops who more or less believe that we should follow the homosexual agenda.
But the Catholic church officially and Pope Francis too have been very careful. He has repeatedly said it that there is only kind of marriage and this document says very clearly what marriage is. It’s between a man and a woman, exclusive, stable, indissoluble union between a man and a woman naturally open to generating children. This is our understanding of marriage. Anything else is inadmissible. So if you talking of blessing marriage, homosexual union is out of the question. In fact, the pope said we should not even call it marriage.”
